The new Hornet rivals the likes of TVS Apache 160, Yamaha FZ V2.0 and Suzuki Gixxer. Honda has been struggling to establish a strong market share in the premium 150-160 segment and things finally started looking bright after the launch of the new Unicorn. The Hornet was expected to support its bikini faired stablemate in bringing significant sales volumes, but that did not happen. Now, with updated Hornet, HMSI expects the sales to increase.
Though the CB Hornet 160 shares its underpinnings with the CB Unicorn 160, it adopts a fresh and muscular styling. Highlights include a sporty fuel tank with cladding, a simple headlamp, petal discs at both ends, fully digital instrument console, a stout silencer with a silver guard, silver side cowls, split grab rails and an interesting taillight.
The 162.7 cc single-cylinder air-cooled carbureted engine dishes out 14.5 bhp and 14.61 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed unit. Based on this, Honda is reportedly working on a fully faired Hornet, which could be launched later this year.
