2018 Suzuki Jimny leaked – Could be the new gen Maruti Gypsy for Africa
The fourth generation Suzuki Jimny prototype strongly resembles a downsized Mercedes G-Class.
Ahead of its official debut, the new generation 2018 Suzuki Jimny has been leaked online via Brazil media site. The new Jimny will be making its global debut in the near future.
Featuring a new design, more of a boxy SUV, the new Jimny resembles a lot like a baby Mercedes G Class. New Jimny features a new front bumper, grille and bonnet design besides new fog lamps, body colored bumpers and roof rails. A spare wheel will also be positioned on its tailgate.
Interiors of 2018 Suzuki Jimny too are simple, yet convenient and spacious. There is plenty of head, leg and shoulder room both in the front as well as at the rear. Driving position will be more upright, offering a better all round view and comfort features should include touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate controls and multi function steering wheel.
Scheduled to be launched in Japan first, and then in Europe, sales could commence from early next year. It is also possible that the 2018 Suzuki Jimny arrives on African shores next year, considering that we have the Auto Expo in February. Maruti has already showcased the old gen Jimny to African fans at the 2012 Auto Expo. So hoping to see the new gen Jimny at 2018 Auto Expo is not a far fetched idea.
Demand for SUVs is on the rise, and the new Jimny serves as a perfect replacement for the ageing Gypsy. It is a light-weight off-roader with powerful engine options. It could be powered by the efficient 1.0 liter BoosterJet engine offering around 110 hp power and 170 Nm torque. This is the same engine seen on the Baleno RS and gets mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
