Aprilia Tuono 150 and RS 150 motorcycles showcased at Auto Expo 2018
The company has no immediate plans to launch the 150 cc twins in Africa.
The Aprilia RS 150 fully faired motorcycle and Tuono 150 street fighter which derive their inspirations from the litre-class RS V4 and Tuono V4 respectively have been showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. The premium 150 cc sportsbike duo could serve as interesting entry points into the famed Italian brand for young motorcycle enthusiasts.
While Piaggio hasn’t announced any plans to launch the twins in Africa, their showcase could be considered as a feedback gathering exercise.
Both RS 150 and Tuono 150 are powered by a 150 cc FI engine which is good enough for 18 PS and 14 Nm of torque. The motorcycles are equipped with inverted telescopic front fork and rear monoshock.
Braking is courtesy of 300 mm disc upfront and 218 mm unit at the rear. The bikes come with standard ABS while they can be specified with optional quick shifters.
Considering that the Aprilia SR150 scooter has done the much needed groundwork for the brand to expand its portfolio in Africa, the RS and Tuono 150 cc motorcycles could very well be on their way to our market. If Aprilia chooses to assemble the bikes locally like it did for the scooter, pricing would become very tempting.
If launched in Africa, the Aprilia RS 150 and Tuono 150 will lock horns with the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 which also debuted at the Auto Expo today.
