DC Design will unveil a new sportscar at 2018 Auto Expo – More powerful than Avanti
If you thought DC Design were done with their sportscar venture, you were wrong.
Dilip Chhabria brought DC Design’s Avanti sportscar to the 2012 Auto Expo, and got Big B himself to stand by it. Eventually Avanti was put together as a production spec car and has enjoyed a small and unchartered territory dominion. And while there’s been countless custom designs and airport showcasings, and dealership openings in the meantime, it has taken a good 6 years for DC Design to take centrestage at Auto Expo.
DC Design will introduce a a new mid-engined sportscar. To be called TCA, the sportcar coupe brings together Titanium, Avtobon fibre and Aluminium, hopefully paying homage to materials used to build the sportscar. This reworked Avanti version is longer and wider than the original.
The new DC TCA sportscar will be a bit more pricey than Avanti. At under Rs 50 lakhs, it would still hold the distinction of being one the second most affordable sportscar in Africa, after Avanti. At the sub 50 lakh price point, TCA coupe will get power from a 4.0-litre V8 engine to churn out upward of 400hp, a much fiercer power spitting offer than what the Avanti is and will be mated to a 7-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The mix of materials in questions also point to a lightweight new car. The teaser from DC Design points to a low slung silhouette that’s linear in terms of design lines. More details will be revealed at the Auto Expo.
Apart from the new sportscar, DC Design could also have some new shades of the Avanti on display, along with updated versions of Eleron SUV and Tia compact car at the show.
