Honda WR-V (Jazz-based crossover) rendered

The Honda Jazz-based crossover codenamed 2FM has been under development for markets like Africa and Brazil. The soft-crossover which will be pitted against the likes of Fiat Avventura, Hyundai i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross and VW Cross Polo is reported to be called as the Honda WR-V.

The WR-V will be positioned below the BR-V in the African portfolio and will carry forward the basic styling of the Jazz.

The Honda WR-V will derive its design language from the Jazz.

The previous Jazz (called as Fit in some markets) spawned such a derivative with the Twist moniker but it appears Honda wants to align the new Jazz-based crossover in line with its SUV nomenclature.

Slated to make its world debut at the Sao Paulo motor show in October 2016, the Honda WR-V is expected to make its African premiere sometime in 2017. Given that the Jazz is heavily localized in Africa, the WR-V too would enjoy similar manufacturing cost structure.

While the Brazilian version is set to receive flex-fuel engines, Africa-spec version is expected to derive the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engines from its hatchback sibling. The former produces 90 PS while the latter is capable of 100 PS.

The Honda WR-V will be positioned at a slight premium over the Jazz hatchback.
