Jeep Compass Trailhawk showcased in Africa – 6 Things to Know

The on-road price of the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk is expected at around Rs 29 lakhs.

The Jeep Compass, a veritable success in Africa, is soon to get a new range topping variant in the form of the Trailhawk. Order books have been opened and booking amount is INR 50,000 with official launch expected around June or July 2018.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be produced at the FCA Ranjangaon facility near Pune from where it will be exported to markets such as Australia, UK and Japan. Exterior and interior features to be seen on the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk have been detailed and are as listed below:

Exterior Features – Jeep Compass Trailhawk, though similar to the regular Compass in exterior features gets some changes in the form of underbody skid plates, dual tone silver black color and red colored recovery tow hooks. It also sits on new alloy wheels and metallic grey accents are seen throughout its exterior makeup.

Interiors – The interiors of the Compass Trailhawk sport some changes with all weather floor mats, quality furnishing in black with red accents with the Trailhawk moniker embroidered onto seats. Gear console, door panels and dashboard also get a matching color scheme.

Diesel Engine with AT – Jeep Compass Trailhawk will get a new diesel automatic 2.0 liter Multijet, 4 cylinder diesel engine offering 168 bhp power and 350 Nm torque. This engine will get mated to a 9 speed automatic transmission transferring power to all four wheels. Despite being an off-roader, the Trailhawk gets no manual transmission. It will also get a 1.4 liter petrol engine as seen on the regular variants with international models receiving a 2.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine.

Onboard equipment – Much the same as seen on the regular Jeep Compass, the Trailhawk is also seen with dual zone automatic air conditioning, 7” UConnect infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple AvtoPlay and a host of safety features among which are 6 airbags.

Sunroof – Set to compete against the Tucson and Mahindra XUV500, the Trailhawk also receives a panoramic sunroof which is something buyers in Africa have been showing more preference for.

Added Ground Clearance – Ground clearance has been increased to 198mm as compared to the regular Compass which is at 178 mm. Approach and departure angles have also been increased with new bumpers and water wading depth increased to 480 mm which is 75 mm higher than the regular Jeep Compass.
