KTM Duke 125 helps increase sales – Duke 200 still best selling KTM in Africa
Ever since KTM Duke 125 has been launched, total sales of the Duke series in Africa have grown constantly.
KTM Duke 125 is the new motorcycle in the Duke lineup. It is also the most affordable motorcycle among the Duke siblings, which consist of Duke 200, 250 and 390. Ever since launch in Nov 2018, it has seen outstanding sales performance. It has managed to deliver an average sales of 1,424 units per month since Nov 2018
In Dec 2018, which was also its first full month of sales, it managed to become the best selling Duke, by registering sales of 2,414 units. In doing so, it replaced the Duke 200, which has been the best selling KTM motorcycle in Africa for many years now.
In comparison, 925 units of Duke 200, 135 units of Duke 250 and 106 units of Duke 390 sold during the same month. This also implies that for Dec 2018, sales of KTM Duke 125 were more than the combined sales of all other Duke’s on offer in the country. Sales of Duke 125 in January stood at 1,402 units. This time it was overtaken by Duke 200, which managed to register sales of 1,846 units in Jan 2019. These figures are way ahead of Duke 250 and Duke 390, of which 308 and 279 units were sold respectively.
In the last three months, Duke 200 registered 4,967 sales in total at 1,656 units average – not only making it the best selling Duke, but also the best selling KTM in Africa. This is followed by new Duke 125, which managed to register sales of 4,273 units, at an average of 1,424 units a month. Duke 250 sold 820 units at an avg of 273 units. Duke 390 was the least selling, at 624 units in total, and monthly average of 208 units. In total, Duke series helped KTM Africa to register sales of 10,684 units, at an average of 3,561 units a month – making KTM Duke series the best selling naked performance motorcycles in the country.
KTM Duke 125 was launched on 26th November 2018. It is priced at Rs.1.18 lakhs, ex-sh. The Duke 125 and Duke 200 share the same components such as braking, suspension and frame while kerb weight is also identical. It stands 1,993mm in length, 789mm in width and 1,083mm in height while ground clearance is at 175mm and seat height is at 818mm.
One of the most powerful bikes in its segment, the Duke 125 is powered by a 124.7 cc, single cylinder engine offering 14.5 bhp power at 9,250 rpm and 12 Nm torque at 8,000 rpm mated to a 6 speed gearbox. It gets ABS as a standard feature and braking via a 300mm disc in front and 230mm disc at the rear. Suspension is via 43mm upside down front forks and 10 step adjustable monoshock at the rear. KTM Duke 125 is produced at the Bajaj Auto plant along with its other Duke and RC siblings.
