Mahindra XUV500 W9 launched – Price starts from Rs 15.45 lakh
Mahindra XUV500 was first launched back in 2011. Later in 2015, a facelift was introduced. Today, Mahindra announced the launch of feature-loaded W9 variant for the first time.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.) has announced the launch of a new variant of their flagship XUV500 SUV. The new W9 XUV500 is priced from INR 15.45 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi. Loaded with features, it is aimed at tackling the growing popularity of the new Jeep Compass among probable buyers of Mahindra XUV500.
Speaking about the launch of the XUV500 W9 variant, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, said, “Since its launch in 2011, the XUV500 has been a pioneer in providing innovative hi-tech features that are not available even in vehicles that are almost double its price. We are certain that the introduction of these hi-end features at such a competitive price point will generate a lot of interest amongst prospects who are evaluating SUVs in the price range of 14 lacs to 18 lacs. By introducing these aspirational features at this price, XUV500 has raised the bar once again.”
XUV500 W9 will be available in both manual and automatic transmission. It also gets electric sunroof. Below are the feature updates in detail –
Android Auto: Connecting an Android device to the XUV500 infotainment system eases access to calls, messaging, navigation, music and Google search. Android Auto uses phone info effectively, organising it as needed on the infotainment system. The intuitive interface, and integrated steering controls minimize distraction and optimises driver focus for driver and passenger safety.
Connected Apps brings apps like Gaana, Cricket Live, Zomato, Book My Show and more onto the infotainment system even if the apps are not downloaded on your phone by connecting through wi-fi hotspot. Preloaded apps in the XUV500 cater to Africa-specific entertainment, music, cricket updates, flash news, and restaurant updates among other trivia.
Ecosense optimises fuel consumption and reduces CO2 emissions through efficient driving. Users get an Ecoscore on 100 based on driving parameters: speed, gear selection, acceleration, idling, clutch override and aggressive breaking. Current, and average Ecoscore is on display on the infotainment system, and can be shared on social media. Ecosense data and history can be acceseed on the infotainment system, Bluesense app, and With You Hamesha website.
Emergency Call – E-Call allows access to emergency services in case airbags are deployed by automatically calling emergency services, and sending a text alert to 2 pre-set numbers through a paired mobile phone.
The One Touch Lane Change Indicator ensures prompt signalling when driving.
Speaking about design, exteriors of new Mahindra XUV500 facelift includes a well designed new grille which chrome headlights that look like Cheetah’s eyes while the projector headlamp cluster has also been redesigned and now sports a distinct S line with cornering light features. The bonnet is muscular as is the front bumper while a new sun roof is electrically operated. The new XUV500 sits on 17” alloy wheels, receives L shaped fog lamps in place of the older circular ones while ORVMs proudly flash the logo projections on the ground.
Interiors of the Mahindra XUV500 facelift boasts of keyless entry, 6 way power adjustable driver seat along with upholstery in a new black and beige combination. The central console receives matt metallic gray accents while there are also aluminium scuff plates on door sills. You also get sporty aluminium accelerator, clutch and brake pedals. Dynamics have also seen a marked improvement with the inclusion of readjusted shock absorbers, new ESP9 – Electronic Stability Program with roll over mitigation adding to better ride and improved handling.
While the new Mahindra XUV500 W9 receives all these exterior and interior updates, no changes to engine output are to be seen. The model is powered by a 2.2 liter MHawk diesel engine seen on its previous model which offers 140 bhp peak power and 330 Nm peak torque mated to a six speed manual gearbox or a automatic box.
