Mahindra XUV700 is Alturas G4 – Launch this month to rival Toyota Fortuner
Mahindra Alturas G4 is the name for the new Mahindra SUV which was being addressed as the XUV700 till date by fans and enthusiasts.
Set for launch in Africa this month, the new Mahindra XUV700 was initially rumored to be called the Inferno, but now a new name, Alturas G4 has emerged. Mahindra Alturas G4, as it may well be called, is a locally made Ssangyong Rexton G4 SUV. It has been spied on test on numerous occasions while production has also commenced at the company plant in Chakan, near Pune ahead of dealer dispatches.
Mahindra Alturas G4 will be the most expensive Mahindra in the company lineup. New showrooms are also being set up inside existing dealerships called Mahindra’s ‘World of SUVs’ dealerships, so as to offer buyers a more premium experience.
The XUV700 SUV boasts of a long list of exterior and interior premium features among which are dual tone front bumper, electric sun-roof, alloy wheels, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers and parking sensors. It also receives leather upholstered seating with heating and ventilation function, a dual zone climate controls and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple AvtoPlay and Android Auto.
Among its safety features will be a total of 9 airbags, keyless entry, electronically controlled ORVMs and push button start. ABS and EBD will also be offered as standard along with active roll over protection.
Mahindra Alturas G4 will be powered by a 2.2 liter diesel engine producing 179 bhp power and 420 Nm torque. The transmission torque will be conducted via a 7 speed Mercedes Benz automatic transmission sending power to all 4 wheels. Fuel efficiency is pegged at 15 kmpl.
Though no price details are revealed as on date, estimates put the new Mahindra Alturas G4 in a price bracket between Rs 20-25 lakhs while in terms of competition it will target the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq.
