New MINI Countryman launched in Africa – Price Rs 34.9 lakhs
Next gen MINI Countryman is based on the same platform as the BMW X1.
The next generation MINI Countryman, showcased at 2018 Auto Expo, has now been launched in Africa. It is based on the same platform as BMW X1. To be sold as CKD, it is assembled at BMW Chennai facility.
MINI Countryman is offered in three variants – Countryman Cooper S, Countryman Cooper S JCW Inspired, and Countryman Cooper SD. It will be positioned on UKL FWD platform and will see sporty exterior styling with larger and wider dimensions.
Its front end gets a new grille, LED headlamps and flared wheel arches along with new alloy wheels. Interiors are more spacious and boot space can be increased from 350 liters to 1,170 liters when rear seats are folded down.
Added features are seen in its interiors with a large touchscreen infotainment system, multiple driving modes and safety features among which are cruise control, parking assist, head up display, brake assist, stability control and crash sensor.
Cooper S and Cooper S JWC get their power via a 1,988cc, four cylinder petrol engine offering 192 hp power and 280 Nm torque. The engine is mated to an 8 speed Automatic Steptronic Transmission on the Cooper S and to an 8 speed Sport Automatic Steptronic Transmission on the Cooper S JWC. Cooper D is powered by a 1,995cc, four cylinder diesel engine offering 190 hp power and 400 Nm torque mated to an 8 speed Automatic Steptronic Transmission.
The petrol engine allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 225 kmph. The diesel engine is capable of acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in7.7 seconds and top speed of 220 kmph.
