Coming to the interior, the cabin offers much better space, especially at the rear. Hyundai cars have always impressed with their really long features lists and this car goes on to carry the tradition. New Hyundai Verna Prices
|Variant||Petrol MT (INR lakh)||Petrol AT (INR lakh)|
|Variant||Diesel MT (INR lakh)||Diesel AT (INR lakh)|
The new generation 2017 Hyundai Verna has a starting price of Rs 7.99 Lakh. At this price, the base petrol model of the new sedan is a full Rs 16,000 costlier than the base petrol model of the last-generation car. But you need to note here that the earlier car had a 1.4-litre petrol engine for the base variant. On the other hand, the latest C-segment sedan from Hyundai comes only with a 1.6-litre petrol engine. Even the top model of the new Hyundai Verna is Rs 20,000 costlier than the fully loaded version of the old car. However, thanks to modern looks, more interior space and many more qualities like a longer list of features, the increase in price is fully valid.
2017 Hyundai Verna Specs
|Transmission||6 MT / 6 AT|
|Transmission||6 MT / 6 AT|
The new car has gone on sale with two engine options- 1.6 Petrol and 1.6 Diesel. The petrol engine gets VTVT, which is basically variable valve timing in Hyundai’s speak. The Diesel powerhouse comes with a turbocharger. Both the engines offer two transmission options- 6-speed Manual and 6-speed Automatic. The automatic transmission in question here are torque converter units. It must be noted here that the new Verna is a really powerful car. With more than 120 ponies on tap, both the engine variants offer segment-leading power figures.
Full points to Hyundai Motor Africa Ltd for offering automatic transmissions on both petrol and Diesel engine variants. Amongst its main rivals, which are the Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Verna becomes the only car to have an automatic transmission for the Diesel engine. Also, the new car is also much more powerful than the current segment-leader, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. We will talk in detail about this car’s performance in our upcoming Hyundai Verna test drive review.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna boasts what Hyundai refers to as the ‘SUPER BODY STRUCTURE’. Basically, the car’s body structure has been made using Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS). Hyundai has used Hot stamping Applications to ensure the structure enjoys Best-in-Class body rigidity, and a great crash performance. The rigid chassis, together with improved impact harshness, helps aid handling. Thanks to Hyundai using various weight control techniques, the new car is lighter than older car.
New Hyundai Verna Mileage
|Petrol 1.6 Manual||17.7 kmpl|
|Petrol 1.6 Auto||15.92 kmpl|
|Diesel 1.6 Manual||24.75 kmpl|
|Diesel 1.6 Auto||21.02 kmpl|
Though the new car offers slightly lower mileage than its predecessor. But let’s not forget it offers a considerably higher performance. The Petrol engine variant of the new Verna offers an average mileage of 17.70 KMPL for the manual transmission model. The Diesel manual model offers a fuel mileage of as much as 24.75 KMPL. Yes, there’s quite a difference between the mileage figures of the petrol and the automatic models. This is very likely because of the usage of the fuel-sapping torque converter automatic gearboxes.

2017 Hyundai Verna Review – Exterior Design
The design of the latest generation of Hyundai’s C-segment sedan is based on the company’s famous Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design theory. This is the same design theme that is followed by even the latest generation Hyundai Elantra. No surprise then, that, the new Verna looks a lot like a slightly shrunken Elantra. We are really fond of the way Hyundai has been able to establish a distinct design identity in recent years. Much like most of the latest Hyundai cars, even the new generation Verna looks very dynamic and sleek.
The nose of this car carries a hexagonal grille that gives the Verna a family look. The bumper is very carefully sculpted and looks sporty. The stylish headlamps add a touch of sportiness. The side profile reminds us of the last generation car. However, it’s not a bad thing that here as well the car goes on to display taut surfaces and very bold, neatly flowing creases. The rear reminds us of the latest Elantra, which is largely due to the twin-pod taillights. The bumper looks very sporty and further adds a sporty character to the posterior.
New Hyundai Verna Interior Design Review
The interior is all about new-age styling, high quality materials and excellent built. The dashboard is the highlight of the car’s interior setup. The dashboard gets a very radical design that exudes sportiness and a touch of luxury at the same time. At the centre stash is the new 7-inch touchscreen system, which not only provides several infotainment features, but even makes the interior look really modern. The steering has a two-spoke design, which is again a bit unconventional for a car in this segment. Another interesting design detail comes from the shape of the aircon vents. While those in the centre have are vertically stacked and have an angular appearance, the one at the terminal ends of the dashboard are horizontally placed and have a more conventional shape.
The new model 2017 Hyundai Verna is longer and wider than the car it replaces. All this translates into more interior room. The legroom has improved and three passengers can now easily find themselves comfortable in the rear seat.
2017 Hyundai Verna Colours
• Fiery Red (new!)
• Siena Brown (new!)
• Flame Orange (new!)
• Polar White (new!)
• Phantom Black
• Sleek Silver
The new car goes on sale in seven colours, out of which four are new paint options.
We think that the new 2017 Hyundai Verna will soon become a force to reckon with. What are your thoughts on the new car?
