New Mercedes V Class MPV debuts with more luxury and features
Mercedes Africa launched the pre-facelifted V Class in Africa on 24th Jan 2019.
New Mercedes V Class facelift comes forth as an improved version of itself with a new front bumper, radiator grille, and cabin air vents. Available in new exterior paint schemes, efficiency too stands improved. In Europe, bookings will get underway in March of 2019. Price range in Germany begins at 36,990 euros ($42,347 or Rs 30.28 lakhs). Price range for other countries is yet to be released.
Updated 2019 V-Class’ new front design makes for a wider appeal. The new bumper with its cooling air intakes, diamond structure radiator grille, and two new alloy wheel designs, 18” and 19”. The 19 inch offering is a 10-spoke feature in high-sheen finish.
New colours on offer include graphite grey metallic and hyacinth red metallic. On the inside, new V-Class sports new air vents and instrument cluster dials. Those opting for AMG Line, will go home with chrome pins in the grille. Leather upholstery colours include Tartufo nappa, Lugano leather and nappa leather in black and silk beige.
Rear passenger comfort features include fully recliner seats, back massage and climate control offered as standard in the Exclusive trim. In its new avatar, V-Class gets power from a four-cyl OM 654 diesel engine that returns 236 HP and 500 Nm of torque in the V 300d spec mated to 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. Going from 0 – 100 km/h takes 7.9 seconds with top speed pegged at 221 km/h.
Standard safety features include Crosswind Assist, Attention Assist, new Active Brake Assist and Highbeam Assist Plus. Highbeam Assist Plus makes for broad illumination without being a bother to other road users.
Only last week, Mercedes-Benz Africa launched V-Class in the country for the first time. That however is the older model, and is available at a price of Rs 68.4 lakhs for the 6 seater (2+2+2) LWB, and Rs 81.9 lakhs for the 7 seater (2+2+3) Extra LWB. As the V Class is brought in as CBU, Mercedes Africa could update the V Class as soon as allotted stock of current V Class is exhausted.
