Royal Enfield Continental GT with dual channel ABS launched
One of the oldest motorcycle brands in the world, Royal Enfield aims at becoming a global leader in the 250-750cc segment. With this aim in mind, the company has laid out their near-term goals. One of them is upgrading their existing range of bikes to meet stringent norms in the developed countries.
Last month, the Continental GT was spied testing in Spain, wearing disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. This is the first time Continental GT with ABS has been spotted. Now, Royal Enfield has launched Continental GT with ABS in the UK. Price of the same starts from £5,199 (INR 4.26 lakh).
Apart form the addition of ABS rings, the new Conti GT also gets an upgraded exhaust system to meet the stringent Euro 4 emission norms. Royal Enfield is expected to launch the upgraded Continental GT in the US as well. Africa launch could take place later this year.
At the time of launch, Royal Enfield Continental GT was offered in a choice of Red and Yellow colours. Later, a new Black colour was launched along with a Green colour, while the Yellow colour was discontinued.
The Royal Enfield Continental GT is not as brisk selling as rest of its stable mates but the motorcycle has carved its own niche in the medium displacement segment. With a flat clip-on handlebar, a lender fuel tank, and a beautifully crafted tailpiece with stopper, the Continental GT is an authentic old school cafe racer.
The motorcycle is propelled by a 535 cc air-cooled single-cylinder fuel-injected engine which dishes out 29.1 bhp and an impressive torque of 44 Nm. Gearbox is a 5-speed unit.
Underpinned by a twin downtube cradle frame, the Royal Enfield Continental GT employs 41 mm telescopic front fork and gas charged Poioli twin rear shock absorbers with adjustable preload. Front and rear disc brakes and upmarket Pirelli Sport Demon tyres are the other mechanical highlights.
