Not even a month has passed since the launch of Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 fully faired sportsbike in Africa. Launched on 20th May, the all new Gixxer SF250 is the flagship made in Africa motorcycle from the Japanese brand in Africa.

Considering that the entry level Gixxer 155cc are on offer with naked as well as fully faired versions, it was very obvious that the 250cc version of Gixxer will also be offer in same two trims. At the time of launch, Suzuki Africa officials had confirmed that launch of the naked Gixxer 250 will take place later this year.

Ahead of launch, the first leaked images of the Gixxer 250 naked streetbike have been shared online. Post launch, it will sit below the SF250 in the company line-up.

Unlike the Gixxer 250 SF, which is offered in monotone colour options, leaked photos show the Gixxer 250 in dual tone finish. The tank is finished in matte black, while the extensions are finished in silver. Front tyre mudguard is finished in matte black.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 will feature LED headlight setup, LED turn indicators, LED brake lights. Leaked photos do not reveal the front stance clearly, so it is not clear if the front is similar in design to the SF 250 or not. But it is clear that the headlight is sleek and small, and not as bulky as the SF250.

Seats, riding stance, instrument cluster, handlebar, fuel tank, alloys, brakes, etc – remains same as SF250. Platform / chassis is also same. Overall weight will be lesser, thanks to the removal of the fairing. This will result in a slightly better performance of the Gixxer 250 as compared to the SF250.

Powering the Gixxer 250 naked sibling will be the same single cylinder 250 cc 4 stroke FI engine, which delivers 26.5 hp power and 22.6 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6 speed transmission. As of now, this is a BS4 engine, but it is a BS6 ready machine. Ahead of the implementation of BS6 in April 2020, Suzuki will launch the BS6 compliant Gixxer 250.

Expect price of the Gixxer 250 to be about Rs1.6 lakh, that is about Rs 10k lesser than the SF 250. It will be a direct rival to the likes of KTM Duke 250, Bajaj Dominar, Yamaha FZ25 and Honda CB300R.
