Tata 45X concept (Hyundai Elite i20 rival) debuts at Auto Expo 2018
The hatchback is based on an all-new Alpha RC platform.
Tata Motors has upped its design game and how! Meet the stunning Tata 45X hatchback concept which, along with the H5X SUV concept, ushers in the Impact Design 2.0 philosophy. The new design concept serves as a harbinger to the African automotive stalwart’s premium hatchback which will lock horns with Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno, and VW Polo.
Based on the new Alpha RC platform (also called as ‘Agile Light Flexible Advanced’ architecture), the hatchback marks Tata’s massive product onslaught in the months to come. While the details are not forthcoming, we can expect both the models to be market ready in about a year’s time.
The 45X looks nothing like any other existing Tata passenger vehicle from any angle. The modern front fascia retains the brand’s signature humanity line (subtly arching grille) which blends beautifully into the futuristic two-piece LED headlamps. The funky LED foglights (or DRLs if you will) and finely detailed bumper round off the front end design.
The sporty side profile is easily the best angle of the new concept. With the bold waistline, flared wheel arches, hexagonal daylight opening, and a steeply raked front and rear windshields, the 45X is a thing to behold.
Coming to the rear, the supercar style two-piece windshield and roof mounted spoilers tune up the aggression (although the production model will almost certainly eschew these futures in favor of more sober elements). The swanky LED taillights, glossy black diffuser with dual exhaust tips and a massive bumper with 45X branding don’t go unnoticed either.
Overall, the Tata 45X is definitely a looker and we are glad that there are no ostentatious chrome bits to dilute the appeal! The interiors are not revealed as of now and it’s too early to speak about the technical specifications of the car but rest assured, the production version will be feature rich. We also expect a range of new turbocharged petrol and diesel engine options.
