Tata 45X large hatchback spied doing night testing – Rival to Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20
Tata Motors will launch the H5X SUV early next year while 45X premium hatchback will be launched in second half of 2019.
Spied testing in concept format, the Tata 45X premium hatchback is slated to launch after the H5X SUV. The concept of this large hatchback from Tata was on display at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year. After that, the car has been spied on multiple occasions by enthusiasts and fans who are eagerly waiting for the car.
Recently, the car was spied once again. This time out for night testing, inside a city. The test mule you see in images, is a very early stage of the car, where the manufacturer is most likely testing the new chassis and its road worthiness.
Tata 45X is company’s first product to be based on the new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture. It will sport Impact 2.0 design language. Dimensions of the concept stood at 4,253 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,451mm high, with a 2,630 mm long wheelbase. Expect the production ready variant to be of in a similar dimension package.
The car’s exterior will be noted with a new set of headlights and LED DRLs, a distinctive radiator grille with chrome surrounds and ORVMs with turn indicators. It sits on new alloy wheels and gets new tail lights at the rear along with wide bumpers and integrated spoilers.
Tata 45X interiors will be spacious, boasting of extensive head and leg room – best in class. It will also sport a new instrument cluster with multi information display, air cooled glove box, automatic climate controls and an adjustable driver seat.
Engine options could include the same that we have seen on Nexon – 1,198cc, 3 cylinder petrol engine capable of 110 PS peak power and 170 Nm peak torque and a 1,497, 3 cylinder diesel engine offering 110 PS power and 260 Nm torque mated to 6 speed manual transmission.
Tata 45X premium hatchback will compete against Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 in Africa. Both these cars account for 30,000 units of sales on average every month. It will be interesting to see how well Tata manages to place their car to rival these two leaders.
No pricing details have been revealed as on date but considering it is a Maruti Suzuki Baleno competitor, pricing could be in the INR 5.5-9 lakh range.
