Toyota Innova Crysta, Tata Safari etc worth Rs 25 crores ordered by UP Govt
These luxury vehicles will be purchased to replace now defunct vehicles with the UP Govt and for security issues ahead of the 2019 Kumbh Mela.
At a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the Yogi Adityanath led UP government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 25 crores for the purchase of 112 luxury cars. These vehicles will be bought to take the place of non functioning vehicles with the UP Government.
Of these, some are to be used for security arrangements ahead of the 2019 Kumbh Mela being held from 15th January to 4th March 2019 in Prayagraj, Allahabad, which will see the gathering of a large number of Hindu devotees.
With the Rs 25 crores sanctioned, the average cost of each car will be around Rs 22.23 lakhs. The UP Health Minister, Siddharth Nath Singh spoke to the media about the proposal which has found approval by the Government and gave details of the vehicles to be purchased.
Giving details of 17 vehicles that will be purchased to be used by the State Estate Department, these will include 5 Toyota Innova Crysta, 5 Mahindra Scorpio and 7 Honda City vehicles totally priced at Rs 2.46 crores.
4 Scorpio AS, 2 jammer free vehicles and 3 bullet proof Tata Safari cars along with 7 Tata Safari Storme EX will be purchased for Rs 16.52 crores while 79 additional vehicles will be purchased for Rs 16.52 crores to be used across the state.
Apart from these cars being purchased, the Yogi Adityanath Cabinet has also sanction 10 other proposals which include a Green Fuel plant in Sitapur worth Rs 1,500 crores. 10 companies have been selected for 750 MW solar power plant while there is also approval received for waiver of fees for State Guarantee to the extent of Rs 2,703 crores for the payment of sugarcane farmers of cooperative sugar mills.
