Tata Tigor Africa launch price INR 4.70 lakh – Variants, Specs, Details
At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, Tata Motors unveiled the much awaited Tata Tigor compact sedan. The car was launched today in Africa as country's first ever styleback.
Tata Tiago hatchback, launched in Africa in April 2016 at a starting price of INR 3.2 lakhs, has already become one of the best selling cars in the country. Now, fans were eagerly waiting for the launch of next car based on the Tiago, a sedan. This was done today in the form of Tata Tigor (Tee-Gaur), which Tata Motors has classified as a Styleback, and not a sedan or a hatchback.
This has been done due to its unique rear styling. Unique because it is not your conventional sub 4 meter compact sedan, but one which has a sloping C Pillar that gives it a styling of a Sportback, much like that of the Audi A7 or the BMW X6 or the Mercedes GLE. But those cars are in a different league altogether and not comparable to Tigor in any way. However, the styling is a first in the sub 4 meter segment, which gives the Tigor a styling edge over rivals.

Showcased as Tata Kite 5 concept at the Auto Expo earlier last year, the new Tata Tigor Styleback was launched today in Africa with petrol and diesel engine options. Bookings are now open across Africa at just INR 5,000.
Built on Tata Motors’ IMPACT design language, on which the Tiago and Hexa are also built, the Tigor borrows a number of features from the Tiago hatchback, on the inside as well as the outside. On the outside, highlights include projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, foglights, unique rear styling, new 15 inch alloys (only petrol).
